It's a pin! It's a brooch! It's a pterodactyl!

Okay, it's not a pterodactyl. It's a steampunk brooch! Or pin! My first foray into broochdom.
Or pinland. Or something.

What exactly is the difference between a brooch and a pin, anyway?
Apparently, a brooch is always a pin, but a pin is not always a brooch.
A brooch is a decorative, ornamental piece of ladies' jewelry with a pin on the back, designed to be worn on a lapel, scarf, or hat.
A pin is. . . well, a pin.
It doesn't help that brooch is actually pronounced "broach."
This is a pterodactyl. The P is silent.
Come to think of it, he would make a pretty cool brooch.
