It's March, let's have a giveaway!

It's March, bunnies! Let's celebrate by having a fab MAB giveaway. This is a sweet carved shell cameo set in a lacy coppery setting, with copper filigree beads, white freshwater pearls, and rosy crystal rondelles. And, hey, look! Dainty matching earrings! I made it right here at MAB Studios (aka the living room floor), with the fluffy aid of Gus the cat.
So, I'm going to make this one easy. While I would love for you to follow my blog and tweetery twittery my giveaway and bloggity blog about it and rent out a billboard to advertise it and try to bribe me to win. . . all you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me about your favorite piece of jewelry. Oh, and I need to know where to reach you when you win.
Oh, and I'll pick a winner next Monday at noon. Forgive me, I'm scattered this morning.
Mine will surprise you. I love glitzy glam jewelry as much as any person this side of the Gabor sisters. However, I have one piece of jewelry that I wear every day. It's a sterling band with black onyx inlay, made by the Zuni indians, and showing how people came out of the sun. I bought it right after I got out of college, and have worn it every day since.
Enter! And good luck! I look forward to reading about the jewelry you love.
And happy March, happy spring, from MAB.

  1. Well thank you! I love the vintage look. I honestly don't wear jewelry very often - don't even have pierced ears. I love the necklace my husband bought me - with a vintage key. But I already managed to break it (he fixed it). That's me - a bit clumsy and frumpy....but I'm trying. I also love the pearls my mom bought me for my 16th birthday.

  2. My favorite at the moment is my engagement ring. My guy gave it to me around Christmastime, and it's a family heirloom. It's his great grandma's engagement ring. It's simple gold band with silver around the setting of the diamond, and it's just plain pretty. Not bling-y, not flashy... but beautiful. Knowing that it's so much a part of his family history only makes it that much more special.

  3. My favorite at the moment is NOT my engagement ring (though I love it) but the three stone emerald ring my husband bought for my birthday last year. Well, he authorized the purchase and *I* bought it. Got it on eBay for $150 and couldn't believe how fabulous it was when I got. I haven't taken it off since!

And I *am* following your blog and I *did* tweet your giveaway. No billboard space, though, sorry.

  4. My favorite piece of jewelry is a necklace I bought from Chico's a year or so ago. It is a cluster of three metal daisies with words such as "create" and "dream" on some of the petals. Pretty simple, but bold. I always get compliments when I wear it, and what girl doesn't like a good compliment? =D

  5. How generous of you!!! :) My favorite type of jewelry...it's rather eclectic. I tend to gravitate toward pieces that speak to me personally. It can be vintage, it can be cute, it can be "gothic," Victorian...I most especially love earrings - I have quite the huge collection!!! :) Have a wonderful day!!!! Theresa

  6. My absolute favorite piece of jewelry was a antique silver ring with one white pearl and one black "pearl" set diagonally from each other. I discovered it in an antique store while biking with my boyfriend. I asked to try it on, it fit perfectly, but then I saw the price and put it back down. A month later, my boyfriend and I were on an airplane about to take off when he presented me with a box, and inside was the pearl ring! I wore it everyday and took it everywhere with me, including Paris, where I accidentally lost it. I never forgave myself to losing it and still miss it.

  7. My favorite piece is a tiny gold locket and ring that my grandmother recieved as a gift when she was born. She gave it to me when I was born, and I'll give it to a granddaughter someday.

  8. I can only say what my favorite piece of jewelry is "today" because I have a lot and I change my mind frequently. That being said, my favorite is an amazing pair of gold and pearl earrings I got as a gift years ago. They are Chanel and are the shape of Miss Coco's profile with the pearl right where her earrings would be. They are *huge* clip ons and I haven't worn them in more than a decade but I still love them and look at them often.

  11. Very generous giveaway.

My favorite piece of jewelry. Hmm that's tough. I love my handmade wedding band (which matches Dev's). But I can't leave out the amazing pendant my great grandfather made me. It's an intricate sterling Sagittarius/centaur pendant that he created using the lost wax casting technique. He made it for me when I was born, so it's pretty special :)

  12. I don't wear much jewelry anymore since I rarely leave the house. But on those rare dress up occasions I have a vintage bracelet from the 40's or 50's that was my grandmothers' that I just adore.

  13. I have alot of jewelry but I'd have to say that I really love my wedding ring from my ex husband. It's an 18 karat posey ring and I had wanted the ring for years when he bought it for me. I don't wear it anymore since I'm remarried but I'm keeping it for one of my girls if they decide they would like to have it. I wear earrings everyday and a bracelet and mostly silver or antiqued metal. I buy only from etsy or antique/thrift stores. I like things to be unique........and you have a new follower!

  14. Wow. That's tough. I have 2 favorites: a white gold ankle braclet that was my last gift from my dad before he died (I haven't taken it off for over 7 years), and my mommy necklace from Ayden. Of course I wear my wedding ring every day, along with another ring my hubby gave me . . . .

  15. My favorite? Probably a resin bead necklace from my fantastic friend Earlybird on Etsy. It's so fun to wear, and play with, and goes with everything I own!

  17. Thanks for the contest! I have a beautiful marcasite locket that was my mom's (very special to me as are all of her pieces.) But my absolute favorite was given to me by my Grandma. It is an old enameled Santa mouse pin with little emeralds for eyes, his nose is worn off and his toe is broken! He used to have a baby sized sidekick that I have lost...but I still wear him every Christmas.

  18. You know, I make lampwork beads, have made all kinds of jewelry from glitsy to demure and I have two items that I switch between for my everyday wear. One is a sterling silver Tibetan prayer box and the other is a group of simple lampwork beads that have lots of depth of color. I always have my wedding ring on and my mom's wedding ring that my father gave me when she passed away 2 years ago.

  19. Okay. I actually have two favorite pieces of jewelry that I wear every day and I didn't make either one of them. One is a simple sterling silver band from the movie The Crow It says "THE CROW. REAL LOVE IS FOREVER" and the other is a sterling silver bat ring. The wings wrap around the finger and on the back of the bat is a blood red garnet stone. I have worn these every day since the early 90's.

  20. My favorite piece of jewelry is a ring that I had made. I gave this old jeweller a Sarah Coventry ring that I had, had for years and always loved. He made a mold of it and recreated the band and we changed the focal stone. the middle is a marquis emerald surrounded by diamonds. It was probably one of last things he made as he died shortly afterwards.

  21. I love that yum yum kitty 2! It reminds me of the cartoons that I grew up with in the '60's! When I first saw the necklace all I could do is smile! And to think it's from a vintage can of cat food. Love it!

  22. I *love* that pic of Gus below. and 46K for a pair of jeans? my favorite jeans are always irreplaceable until they are, alas, finally replaced. however, I must admit, that during long drawn out agonizing separation which occurs when jeans finally make the solemn return trip to the thrift store (I can never face truly tossing them or witness their reduction to rags), if someone offered me 46K? That would be one bare butt minute.

  24. My favorite piece is my wedding ring. My fingers are tiny - this ring is 3.5 - so I didn't want an engagement ring and a band. I thought it would be too much. I think this is actually called an anniversary ring. It has a center diamond (which is my birthstone) with 2 little sapphires (my husband's birthstone) on each side and 2 rectangle diamonds going down from the sapphires - all in white gold. It's been on my finger for over 10 years. I still get compliments and I still love it.

  28. I couldn't pick just one favorite piece. I actually like costume jewelry more than the real thing...I guess because then I can afford to wear something different alot! I do have a few pieces of jewelry that hold alot of sentimental value. I have several pieces, costume and real, that my Grandma hand picked to leave me before she died. She went through all of her belongings and put tags on EVERYTHING instructing my parents to tell them what went to who. I thought it was special that she took the time to think of what she wanted each of us to have so when I hold, admire or wear something she left especially for me I feel like I'm making her (and me) happy knowing she wanted ME to have just this piece.

Thanks for your generous giveaway. What a gorgeous necklace...already know what I'll wear it with if I win!

  29. Hmmm... the only piece I wear every single day is my wedding band. It's an open weave gold Celtic knot, and my husband's is the same design, but in a solid band. (We were married three times in three months. First we eloped to the Carribean, then we had a blessing in Tennessee, and finally a church wedding in Scotland (hubby is Scotish). I got a lot of wear out of that dress! Anyway, it's my fave. I also love a jade and silver spinning pendant on a silver chain that I got when we adopted our daughter from China. The tiny spinning part spins as the jade pendant moves. I wear it often. I also have my grandmother's engagement ring, a single ruby solitaire in a white gold band. So pretty, but I am afraid to wear it so it stays tucked away.

  30. When I was @ 10 my Mama bought me two tiny diamond rings that I stacked together and wore every single day until I got engaged. I still have them and can't wait to pass them onto my girls (one for each).

I've always admired cameos, but I have never owned one.

    I'm following :)

  31. Asking me which piece of jewelry is my favorite is like asking the chubby kid in the bakery to pick out his favorite cupcake. However, if my jewelry "box" were on fire I'd go in and grab the piece I just bought on vacation a few days ago. It came from a thrift slash junk slash antique store. It's called a prayer bracelet which I'm guessing is similar to a rosary. It has small metal balls encrusted with rhinestones. At the tail of it is a cross. All of the rhinestones are in place. Not one went a missin'! I guess the previous owner either did not pray because the stones are all accounted for or all of her prayers were answered, including the one to keep the bracelet secure. Either way, I love owning what another woman owned. I'll use it to count my blessings on over and over again! Here's where to find me: WoodenNickelsJewelry.etsy.com
