Personal hero: Tabatha Coffey

Tabatha Coffey is a New Jersey-based hairstylist who hosts the Bravo TV show Tabatha Coffey's Salon Takeover. On each episode, she comes into a struggling salon and makes changes in the staff and facility to make the salon a success.
Why is she a hero? Lots of reasons.
1. She is good at what she does, loves what she does, and is a huge success at what she does. She is an artist who is passionate about her art and makes a great living practicing that art. Isn't that the definition of a happy life?
2. She knows how to make a business a success, and devotes part of her life sharing that knowledge, not just on the show, but at additional hair shows and events. She shares her success with others in her field. Another definiton of a happy life.
3. She's not afraid to speak her mind, and she knows what she's talking about when she does that. If something isn't working, she will tell you why. Then she'll tell you how to fix it. Often with fantastically quotable one liners.
4. She inspires me to be a better business owner. It's one thing to truly love what you do, but quite another to build a profitable business from it. I admit that sometimes I forget the profit side of the books, and just buy beads and make stuff. I never thought I'd find such practical inspiration from a reality TV character.
Check out her show on Monday nights on Bravo. Let me know what you think. My New Year's resolution is to be more like Tabatha!

  1. I don't know anything about Tabatha, but you've inspired me to watch her show!
Happy New Year, may it be filled with Tabatha like success! :)

  2. I like her too although there are times that I think she is rude. I feel the same way about my jewelry making. I buy supplies like there is no tomorrow, have inventory everywhere and then think any money from a show is mine to spend. Better call it a hobbie
