Top ten most memorable, influential dresses of the past fifty years

Gwyneth Paltrow in Ralph Lauren at the Academy Awards, 1999

Edie Sedgwick, 1965

Bianca Jagger in Halston at Studio 54, yes, on a white horse, 1977

Cher in Bob Mackie at the Academy Awards, 1986

Jackie Kennedy in Oleg Cassini, 1961-1963

Diane von Furstenberg's wrap dress, 1973

Jennifer Lopez in Versace, Grammy Awards, 2000

Madonna's wedding dress with Boy Toy buckle, "Like a Virgin" performance, MTV Video Music Awards, 1984

Marilyn Monroe's Jean Louis dress, from singing "Happy Birthday" to Mr. President, 1962

Audrey Hepburn in Givenchy for Breakfast at Tiffany's, 1961

This list is from a Yahoo feature story from Shine Magazine. I'm now thinking that it might be fun to create a piece of jewelry inspired by each dress. What do you think?

  1. so many good ones. I love Audrey. Don't like the Lopez one or the cher one though Cher is super bodywise. Love studio 54 and the horse. Such wild times back then!

Sigh, I'm sad it is Sunday. The weekend goes by in a blink doesn't it? Have a great week. I'll be checking in
