Cozying up with HappyKATT

Let me tell you about my friend, HappyKATT. Her name stands for Happy Knitting All the Time, and the girl has a way with yarn. Look at this lovely Fall Leaves capelet. Sweet and feminine and entirely original. It's a wrap for a winter princess, made from yummy alpaca yarn. Such a soft and gorgeous pink, and currently half price.

Do you need a last minute happy gift? How charming are these gingerbread fingerless gloves? Warm and wonderful and whimsical. Made of soft merino wool, great when the January winds blow in (and you know they're going to). Perfect for anyone left on your gift list, and they ship free for you.

Feeling a little gnomey? A tad tweedy? Did you know that eighty percent of your body heat is lost out of the top of your head? Yeah, I'm not sure either, but someone told me that once. How cute is this Gnome hat in blue tweed? Cozy, stylish and extraordinarily darling. This baby made it to the front page, too, so it's famous!
Now that shivering season is setting in, it's time to treat yourself to something from HappyKATT. It's not even a luxury; it's an absolute necessity. Wind chill, people! Her stuff cures wind chill!

Games, prizes, gorgeous handmade stuff, cocktails, scantily dressed male dancers. . . okay, maybe not the last two. Stop on in here at the Virtual Labs and say hey.

Umm, just to clarify, there won't actually be a trunk there. My mistake. . .

Zemphira's House of Good Cheer

Zemphira and I have a few things in common--we're both from Ohio, we're both on the etsy OWLS team, and we both love to create stuff. Zemphira sews the brightest and most delightful pieces, from owls to quilts, from bags to original dolls. The little guy above is her Owl Tree Topper. Wouldn't he be a great addition to your festive holiday decor this year? And when the holiday is over, he converts to a friendly puppet. Yeah, I've kinda fallen in love with him.

Here is an example of Zemphira's fabric art quilts, with the Beethoven quote, "What comes from the heart, goes to the heart." So vivid and pretty.

And this is a coin purse, a useable version of her art quilts, The Colorful Caged Bird Is Singing. The mix of colors and patterns and textures is so lively and cheerful. Also, it's a one-of-a-kind piece of practical art, and I'm all about that.

Here is my favorite of Zemphira's creations, her Red Tattoo Plush Owl. The fabric is lovely, and look at his charming little face.
Stop by Zemphira's shop. I guarantee you'll leave with an owl or a bag, so many choices, and a smile on your face.

OMZ = Oh, my Zomburkey

I wondered if my friend and fellow owlie Cami over at Icky Dog Creations could whip up a zombie turkey. She makes zombies of all kinds, and I collect turkeys. He arrived today, the glorious and rare zomburkey. I have fallen crazy in love with him. However, when I'm not looking, I could swear I can hear him mumbling, "Gobble gobble. . . brains. . ."

Skulls!

Check out the necklace I made for the etsy OWLS Day of the Dead challenge. The raku ceramic skull bead is amazing, and I added colorful Mexican candy corn glass beads and a copper floral toggle.

I didn't want him to be lonely, so I made this swirled ceramic skull bead necklace, too, with milk opal disks. Isn't he cool? And the beads were a great match.

The many talents of squarejane

You know what I forgot to mention, dedicated readers? I've joined an etsy street team, the etsy OWLS. What an amazingly talented bunch of ladies, not to mention how helpful and downright fun they are. Have you seen this poop costume? Isn't it the funniest thing ever? It was created by the incredibly talented and generous OWLS team member, squarejane, and I think it's genius. Yes, that's her adorable son there in the picture. Trust me, little kids are fascinated by poop, even if we adults get a little squeamish over it. And the greatest thing from the description: "No actual poops or flies were harmed in the creation of this costume." Now, that's brilliant.

squarejane also created this lovely Frida Kahlo art doll. As someone who doesn't sew, I'm always fascinated by textile artists like squarejane who can envision something like this doll or the poop costume, draft a pattern, cut it out, sew it up, paint or embellish it, and make something wonderful and one of a kind. I'm also amazed by multi-media artists like squarejane, who are able to imagine and produce things as varied as this sweet and delicate biographical doll, and then turn around and make a poop suit. Genius, eh?
As if that weren't enough, squarejane also paints. Now, you all know that I have a serious monkey phobia. But how cute are these? It's the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil saying as a sock monkey triptych. Wonderful, colorful, whimsical.

She knits, makes purses and plushy toys, wallets and organizers, and jewelry. Wow. She's a dynamo of creative power, isn't she? She's also currently taking custom costume orders, so if you want something special for Halloween, now is the time to ask. I know she could make you that realistic chartreuse Bigfoot costume that you've always dreamed of with no problem.
Visit her shop now, and be prepared to be amazed. I didn't have space to mention the steak outfit. . .
