Show!

It's a show weekend! I should be doing show getting ready stuff right now! Instead, I am wasting time on the computer. Because that's how I roll.
The show is at the Christian Life Center right here in lovely Vandalia, Ohio. If you're in the neighborhood, stop on by. If not, send positive selling vibes my way, because MABby wants to sell a bunch o'sparkly stuff!
Have a happy weekend.

It's Pretzel Festival weekend

It's the most wonderful festival of the year, the Germantown Pretzel Festival, full of fun, music, food and people who hopefully want to buy jewelry. Yay! If you happen to be in Southwestern Ohio this weekend, stop on by and see us. We'll be set up across from the bandstand.

Oh, and how will you be able to find MAB? Easy! Mom and I will be wearing our fab MAB pins, made all special for me by the creative genius, HappyKATT. The weather's going to be beautiful, and there's a funk band on Saturday afternoon. Happiness.

I'll catch up with y'all on Monday. Have fun this weekend. And be good. No fighting, no biting.

Last show of the season, Christmas in the Village

Tomorrow is my last show of this busy year of fairs, festivals and craft events, Christmas in the Village in quaint New Lebanon, Ohio. By quaint I mean that they have a McDonald's and three stop lights. Please note that the face on the kitty in the picture above is pretty much an accurate representation of what my mom's face will look like by four o'clock tomorrow afternoon. I'm looking forward to both the show and a rest from shows for awhile. So, if you're in New Lebanon tomorrow, for whatever odd reason you might be in New Lebanon, please stop in at the high school gym and see us!

Slacker MAB

I've been an inattentive blogger this week, and I offer my sincerest apologies. But, if you live in lovely Southwestern Ohio, come out and visit us at A Christmas to Remember craft festival at the Christian Life Center on Little York Road this weekend. 75 exhibitors (including me!) and a Victorian Bake Shoppe. I love Shoppe. Maybe I will be MABBE this weekend, and say things like "Guvnah!"
Happy Friday the 13th, everybody. Just don't go hiking or hanky-pankying at Camp Crystal Lake, and you will all be fine!

Pretzel Festival = Mud Fest!

Oh, my goodness, it was marshy at the Pretzel Festival this year! My shoes are still drying out. My display was a bit cramped and simplistic, because the forecast called for driving rain, so no pictures of our set up. Instead, I thought I'd go for some happy festival ambience. Here are the teeny tiny mushrooms that had sprouted beneath the tree next to our tent. I'm glad I got a picture of them early, because they got trampled pretty quickly.

This is my friend Frank with his gorgeous jewelry and extremely professional set up. Frank and Ray are so much fun, and they went the extra mile to keep us entertained during the foggy, misty, swampy weekend. He makes all of his display fixtures. Aren't they gorgeous? Don't you want one? He may start selling them on etsy!

Here are a couple of shots up through the trees. I was trying to be artistic, but photography is really not my medium. This show is held in a beautiful park in Germantown, Ohio. The people are so nice and the setting is so lovely, that we could certainly put up with less than ideal weather.

Our last outdoor show of 2009! Yay, no more tent wrestling. We've put the same tent up a billion times, and Mom and I still can never quite remember how it works. How is that possible? We sold some jewelry, had great food and talked to a lot of wonderful people.
I love the Pretzel Festival. Even if I was ankle-deep in mud. . .

Pretzel Festival time!

Aaaaaaah, Pretzel Festival! My favorite festival of all. I will be there all weekend, come rain or come shine, but I'm hoping for the shine to win out. The best crowd, the best food. . . This is our fifth year doing this show, and I am stoked!
If you're in the same hemisphere, come on out. We're set up across from the bandstand, under a great big tree.
Until Monday. . . have a salty weekend.

Polka-palooza!

Okay, you all, this southern, German, Ohio-based girl will be spending her weekend at an old-fashioned Oktoberfest right here in sunny Vandalia. I've never set up at this festival. Heck, I've never even been, and it's a mile from my house. Tonight and tomorrow night it goes until midnight. Tomorrow, they have a rock and roll polka band, and I am looking forward to that, in my own warped way. Yes, hoping for the polka version of "Free Bird." You know I'm going to be whooping and dancing barefoot. My poor mom. She will just hide her eyes and shake her head.
So, enjoy your weekend, and hope that the potential customers at this festival have enough beer that they decide to buy lots and lots of jewelry. I'll have a bratwurst for you. Maybe not. . .

Tick tick tick

Holy cheese on a cracker. It just dawned on me this evening that I have four kind of big shows, a home-party, and my etsy shop to keep stocked between now and mid-November. Plus, I'll probably try to add a couple of church bazaars in November and early December. Not to mention whatever I'm going to make for Christmas presents.

However, my eyes are too tired tonight to string one more little bead. As Scarlet O'Hara said, "Tomorrow is another day." Or I might just win the Mega Millions lottery and disappear for a couple of months. Wouldn't that be lovely?

What a show!!

So, Mom and I had a booth at the Englewood Fine Arts Festival over the weekend. It was our first time doing this show, and it was utterly fab. Here in Ohio, we've had the most lovely, temperate summer. . . until Saturday! Yesterday, it was ninety-four degrees and so humid that, by noon, I was rocking a serious afro. At least we had a breeze most of the time, but we were fairly well wilted by the time the show closed yesterday at five.

It was held at Centennial Park, and our booth was right next to a pond with a fountain and a very happy group of ducks. Look at the great view we had! The people were wonderfully friendly, and we had a great time. I got some incredible candles and a piece of art made from wood and tin from a 150 year old barn from Northern Ohio. And some wacky fellow tried to hypnotize my mother with his metaphysical talisman. No, really.
In addition, I handed out a ton of business cards, and something occurred to me. Even if I don't get a single sale from all of the cards I handed out this weekend, someone on the etsy website certainly will. If these potential customers come to etsy and can't find what they want in my shop, some of them will end up buying something from someone else. It's a side of the etsy community that I hadn't really considered before: Every time one of us promotes or advertises our own shops, we bring in new potential customers for all of the sellers. Most of the people I spoke with had never heard of etsy, but became very interested after I explained what it was and how many great, unusual items they might find there. So, thanks to all of you who are better at promoting than I have been, so far. I'll try to pick up some slack from here on out.

Now, I need to get back to work making stuff for the Oktoberfest in my hometown, Vandalia, just weeks from now.

I love festival season!
